Richard is an architect with a national portfolio of agritourism projects and is passionate about the sustainable development of Scotland’s rural economy. Richard’s work spans the length of the country, supporting farming families and rural businesses to create successful visitor destinations including farm shops and stays, cafes, children’s play and food education spaces. These projects are designed to be both environmentally responsible and commercially viable, enhancing rural places and the local economy while celebrating their distinct identities.

Richards is a graduate of the Scottish Rural Leadership Programme (2022). An experience which sharpened his leadership skills and reinforced a commitment to supporting rural communities through innovation and collaboration. He is an active member of RHASS and Scottish Land & Estates and has been a member of TAB (The Alternative Board) Board and has served several positions I the BNI including Ambassador and President.

Richard brings a design-led voice to strategic conversations, ensuring that infrastructure investment and enterprise development are supported by thoughtful, place-sensitive design.

Richard believes strongly in the potential of agritourism to drive positive change in the rural economy and is looking forward to bringing his professional expertise, sector knowledge, and commitment to rural Scotland to the Scottish Agritourism Board, contributing to its continued growth and success.
