Lauren Houstoun
Glenkilrie Farm
Originally a nurse, Lauren is now the driving force behind Glenkilrie Larder, which she runs alongside her husband Andrew on his family farm in Highland Perthshire. With a passion for great food and deep respect for the land, she leads in sharing their farm’s story and champions direct marketing of their venison, beef, and lamb so customers know exactly where their food comes from.
On a mission to bridge the gap between producer and consumer, Lauren highlights how well-reared farm animals provide exceptional nutrition while supporting wildlife and protecting the environment.
Her creativity shines in the Glenkilrie Larder Cook School, which she founded to celebrate the provenance of their meats and the heritage of the farm. She demonstrates cooking with various cuts of venison, beef, and lamb, sharing techniques and recipes before inviting guests to savour each dish.
Beyond the farm, Lauren has presented at the Royal Highland Show, the Scottish Game Fair, and the Turriff Show. In partnership with the Cairngorms National Park, they donate wild venison to Home Economics classes — inspiring the next generation from Land to Larder.
