Scottish Agritourism Member Celebrates 10 Years in Business

Down on the Farm, near Rosehearty, Aberdeenshire, is celebrating their business birthday today, Friday April 1st.

In 2012, owners Matthew and Carole Short wanted to add value to their 200 acre farm. They started out with one glamping unit, have expanded year on year, and now boast 4 glamping units, a holiday cottage, a small tea room and a farm tour business. The business runs alongside the main farming business producing Scotch beef and Scotch lamb.

The couple plan to celebrate the day with friends and family who have supported them through the highs and the challenges of farming, family and business life.

Carole said “One of the best things about running Down on the Farm is that we have created a peaceful, relaxing and totally unique environment which we can share with others. We are immensely proud to welcome people from all over the world on to our farm and provide them with a chance to make memories. It’s a special feeling to watch people leave their worries behind and to hear happy noises of families making fun in the countryside.”

As guests are a significant part of the business, Carole and Matthew are offering a discount on all bookings taken in the month of April. In addition, the couple has managed to track down their very first guests from 2012 and have offered them the opportunity to come back and stay for free. The family of four stayed in one of their Hobbits originally, but is coming back to try out the Coastal Carriage on April 8th.
