Elizabeth Halpenny

Elizabeth Halpenny is a Professor at the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation at the University of Alberta, where she also serves as Associate Dean – Graduate Studies. She received a PhD in Recreation and Leisure Studies from the University of Waterloo. She teaches tourism, parks management, and marketing. She loves to garden and walk her dog in Edmonton’s many green spaces, and spends too much time in a car shuttling her two kids to soccer and creative arts activities. Her current research projects include recreational use and stewardship of natural areas; advancing agritourism in Alberta; community development through sustainable tourism, and fostering climate action through communication interventions.
