Bowhouse Fife
Balcaskie Estate; 2000 ha of the East Neuk of Fife with a mixture of let farms and in-hand farming operations. Around half of this is dedicated to livestock production made up of a large herd of organic, pasture raised Lincoln red cattle, Tamworth pigs and a mix of native breed sheep. Crops grown on the estate include wheat, rye, beans, oats and barley. There is also 180 ha of Estate woodland. Balcaskie is a modern-working estate with a commitment to cultivating and caring for the natural environment, nurturing local business and community engagement.
At Balcaskie, Bowhouse is a food and drink hub that is home to a collection of small producers and growers in the East Neuk of Fife. Bowhouse first opened its doors as a farmers market venue back in July 2017.
Kat has lived in rural Fife for most of her life and been involved with agritourism businesses at all different levels. She studied Rural Business Management at SRUC with aspirations to be involved in a varied, challenging role. A ‘squiggly’ career path has led to exciting opportunities in many different sectors and Kat is settled into her current role as Events Coordinator at Bowhouse and has previously held a voluntary role with Historic Environment Scotland, from 2018-2020, on the Youth Forum.
Kat is Scottish Agritourism Destination Leader for Fife.
