I attended the development workshops in Edinburgh with the 2023 group of 26 other individuals. It was a pleasure hearing from so many passionate, hardworking people and immersing in their plans and ideas.
Feeling like a ‘duck out of water’ we headed for a day out at Holyrood. For many of us, it was our first visit to the Scottish parliament and hopefully won’t be our last. The opportunity was given to ask questions of many key figures in our industry including MSPs and civil servants.
The development workshops allowed us to learn from each other and create a strong group. This meant when the Conference did come along, you felt well supported amongst your peers.
It was my first Agritourism conference and it met my expectations and more! Where else can you get all the people from this thriving sector in the same room together? The stories, the people, the enthusiasm and the laughs, are what make this event so special.
I chaired the Future of Agritourism Session on day 2 of the conference – not something I have done before and it really pulled me out my comfort zone. Looking out at the crowd of warm smiles from the high stage, made it all feel that much easier.
I can’t thank Scottish Agritourism enough for making me realise my potential. It is a welcoming and inspiring community to be a part of and one I would highly recommend to anyone starting their agritourism business journey.
