The Orkney Dairy
Lara works alongside parents Willie and Kirstin and brother David, running the family dairy farm Bain farm, in Sandwick, Orkney.
The farm keeps a herd of 120 Austrian Fleckviehs cows, which is milked by hand twice a day. In 2017, Lara diversified the farm into making produce from the unique herd of Fleckvieh cattle and now, after years of hard work, The Orkney Dairy sells milkshakes, yogurt, and cheese, as well as baking from an honesty shop on the farm and through local shops in Orkney. Super popular hot chocolate bombs are available locally and by mail order.
The Orkney Dairy is Scottish Agritourism’s first Orkney member and Lara is Scottish Agritourism’s first Destination Leader for Orkney.
