Session 5 – Creating an Agritourism Destination
Neale & Janet McQuistin farm in the Southern Uplands of Dumfries & Galloway at High Airyolland farm near New Luce, Stranraer. On their 900-acre tenant farm, 600 acres of which is hill ground, they have a record-breaking pedigree Beltex flock and breed replacement cross bred heifers from their herds of Highland cows and Whitebred Shorthorn cross cows. They have gained the Certification mark for the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Unesco Biosphere and have many measures in place to create and support habitats for wildlife on their farm.
In 2019 they started doing Highland cow experiences and built up the Kitchen Coos & Ewes business offering a variety of accessible, all weather, farm experiences which include sampling traditional baking made in the farmhouse kitchen.
