Sophie Henderson is a qualified Employment Law and HR specialist, experienced in advising businesses across Scotland in the agricultural, tourism, and food and drink sectors. With a degree in Law from the University of Edinburgh, she brings a strong foundation in governance, risk management, and people strategy to the Scottish Agritourism Board of Directors.
Through her consultancy, Greenburn, Sophie works closely with a wide range of agritourism enterprises—from small family-run operations to growing rural businesses—providing support on employment law compliance, workforce planning, and navigating complex legislative change. Her practical, solutions-focused approach is informed by a deep understanding of the realities faced by SMEs operating in rural Scotland, particularly in the face of rising costs, skills shortages, and shifting regulatory frameworks.
She maintains active professional relationships with SAOS, Scottish Land & Estates and NFU Scotland, and many Scottish Agritourism members are among Sophie’s clients. This embedded network gives her a broad, real-time view of the sector’s evolving needs and priorities. Sophie also sits on the Agricultural Wages Committee for the Agricultural Wages Board (Scotland).
Passionate about supporting sustainable rural development, Sophie is driven by a belief in the long-term potential of the agritourism sector to provide meaningful employment, community resilience, and authentic visitor experiences. She is known for her collaborative, plain-speaking style and her commitment to helping businesses thrive through good governance and people-first strategy.
