Scotland Reconnect – Scottish Agritourism in High Demand from the Travel Trade

This week 9 Scottish Agritourism members held one to one virtual meetings over three days with key international buyers from the global travel trade. Caroline Millar held meetings with buyers to provide an overall overview of Scottish Agritourism and to showcase travel trade members not at the showcase or in development.

The following members took part:

  • Ogilvy Distillery
  • Blairmore Farm & Estates Limited
  • Carfrae Farm
  • Bellevue Farm
  • Beirhope Alpacas
  • Kitchen Coos & Ewes
  • Newton Farm Holidays & Tours
  • Lennox of Lomond
  • Old Leckie Farm

We had fantastic feedback about our sector including increasing demand for

  • Scottish agritourism as a new product to bring to their clients
  • Meeting real people and authentic experiences
  • Visiting farms to experience fresh air, learn about farming and nature
  • Field to fork experiences and eating farm produce for lunch and dinner
  • Luxury experiences on farms
  • Teenage school educational visits from European school children
  • Cookery demonstrations
  • Combining a visit to Scotland with a visit to the Royal Highland Show and other agricultural shows

There was overall great feedback on Go Rural as a whole and interest in the travel trade filter on the new website which will be part of Phase 2, currently in development.

We will continue to work with VisitScotland to develop our agritourism offerings to the travel trade and support new businesses to be travel trade ready.
