Scottish Agritourism Board Member Opportunities

Scottish Agritourism, the sector body for agritourism in Scotland, is inviting applications from Scottish based business and industry professionals to join the Scottish Agritourism Board of Directors.

Established as a skills-based board in April 2022, the Scottish Agritourism Board has played a key role in developing the organisation since it began operating as a stand-alone entity from 1st April 2022.

Members of the Scottish Agritourism Board provide support and advice to the Sector Lead, Chairman, Business Manager and Destination Leaders. A director is expected to give between half a day and one day voluntary time each month, including preparing for and attending board meetings. These are held in person and are more in-depth every quarter, lasting approximately three to four hours. For the months in between, in-person meetings last one hour and are held online.

New board members will be announced at the Scottish Agritourism conference in Perth this November and will be expected to attend on the 21st and 22nd, taking up their posts in January 2024.

With each director bringing specific knowledge to the table, current board members offer expertise in marketing, sector development, membership organisations, commerce and finance. In addition, two former or current Destination Leaders form part of the board together with the Chair and Sector Lead. The Destination Leaders are in position to lead the current Destination Leader group, and to represent their voice and the voice of membership on the board.

The Scottish Agritourism board is seeking applications to bring fresh expertise in marketing and commerce.

Caroline Millar, Sector Lead, will also remain in position as an executive director on the board.

The Scottish Agritourism Board works alongside the Sector Lead, Destination Leaders, wider sector and team, to ensure that agritourism is developed in each area of rural Scotland and that Scottish Agritourism plays a key role in delivering Scotland’s national agritourism strategy.

Board members build and support networks at a regional level for the organisation, working closely with other agencies to identify opportunities for agritourism growth.
